Gary Jones, 64, of Ammon passed away July 26, 2012, at his home. He was under the care of Aspen Home Health and Hospice and his loving family. He was born May 12, 1948, in Malad, Idaho to Fay Eugene Jones and Emma Ruth Burton Jones.
Gary attended schools in Downey, graduated from Marsh Valley High School and furthered his education at Reedley College, BYU and ISU. He graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Education administration and Masters in Public Administration and Doctorate in Education Administration.
He married Marsha Brighton on June 25, 1971, in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple and together they raised their family of five children.
Gary worked for 21 years as a bread route salesman, taught education classes at ISU and worked in Data Analysis. He worked in the Bonneville School District for the past 10 years as an administrator.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served a two-year mission in Southern California. He served in several Elders Quorum Presidencies, was High Priest Secretary, music director and a choir soloist.
Music was an important part of his life which included performances in the musical theater productions of Fiddler of the Roof where he was Tevya, King Arthur in Camelot, and the Pirate King in the Pirates of Penzance. Gary also enjoyed playing golf and being with his family and grandchildren. He is survived by: Father, Fay E. Jones of Pocatello, Idaho Mother, Ruth Jones of Downey, Idaho Wife, Marsha Jones, of Ammon, Idaho; Daughter, Tristy (Doug) Hagedorn of Richland, Wash.; Daughter, Trina (Mark) Kreutz of Everett, Wash.; Son, Eli (Peggy) Jones of Logan, Utah; Daughter, Jennifer (Gary) Cornelison of Santa Rito, Guam Son, D.J. Jones of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Brothers, Larry(Vicki) Jones of Pocatello, Idaho; Brother, Hal (Kathy)Jones of Pocatello, Idaho; Brother, Buddy(Bonnie) Jones of Downey, Idaho; Brother, Layne Jones of Pocatello, Idaho; Sister, Anita Jones of Pocatello, Idaho; 14 Grandchildren He was preceded in death by his brother, Lance Jones, and his grandparents, Donald and Ione Burton. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, July 30, 2012, at the Ammon LDS Stake Center, (2055 S. Ammon Rd) with Randy Wadsworth of the Ammon 5th Ward officiating. The family will visit friends Sunday, July 29, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side Chapel (963 S. Ammon Rd.) and from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to the services at the church.
