Melva Smith Elliott, 82, passed away, surrounded by her family, on July 23, 2013, in Bountiful, Utah.
Melva was born August 27, 1930 in Fairview, Idaho to Ada Smith. Her father, Walter Smith, died seven months before she was born. She married Clifford LaMar Elliott in the Logan LDS Temple on February 26, 1954 and together they raised five children. Cliff died February 18, 1995.
Melva had many fond memories of growing up in Idaho. Having four older brothers to tease, protect, and teach her how to drive a car, were the highlights of her childhood. In high school she was a member of the drill team. Dance has always been her passion and she was quite a dancer, right up to the end. After high school she got a job with Mountain Bell and moved to Salt Lake. It was during this time that she met Clifford Elliott and they were married. They built a home in Bountiful, Utah where they raised their family. Melva's family was her greatest joy. Melva was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She loved being with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She had many friends and acquaintances and everyone felt welcome in her home.
Melva was a strong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She served in many capacities including Young Women's, Relief Society, Primary, and Ordinance Worker in the Salt Lake Temple.
She is survived by her children, Scott (Jennifer) Elliott; Cindy (Chad) Price; Laurie (Kevin) Broderick; Vickie Jo (Ben) Smith; Melanie (Mark) Durtschi; 21 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 29, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the Bountiful 5th Ward Chapel, 1000 North 100 West, Bountiful, Utah where a viewing will be held 10:00-11:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment to follow at the Centerville Cemetery.
