ST. GEORGE — Spencer Tanner Winn passed away peacefully at his home in St. George on Thursday, July 18, 2013, with loved ones by his side. He was 92 years old. He was born Oct. 7, 1920, in Nephi, Utah, to William Stanley and Flora Tanner Winn. He married Thora Palmer on April 20, 1942, in the LDS Logan Utah Temple.

Spencer was a faithful and active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout his whole life. He was called to serve in the California Mission and did so with honor. Among many other callings, he served as Bishop of the Preston Fourth Ward, on the High Council, and as an ordinance worker in the Logan Temple. The calling he most fondly remembered was that of serving as a dance instructor with his wife, Thora.

Spencer loved to golf, ride horses, camp, and hunt. He always enjoyed doing these activities with his sons, friends, and other family members. His family was the most important part of his life and they all loved laughing at his many stories. He was always a wonderful person with whom to spend time. He was a trusted friend, whose engaging personality was most enjoyable.

He is survived by his children, Beverlee (F.L. “Tom”) Thomas of St. George; Kristine (Jerry) Twiggs of St. George; Vance (Loni) Winn of Orem; Robert (Julie) Winn of Las Vegas; 37 grandchildren, 70 greatgrandchildren, and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Thora, a son Gerry Winn, a daughter Marilyn Green, a son Kevin Winn, and a grandson Will Thomas.

Funeral services are scheduled for noon Wednesday, July 24, in the Preston North Stake Center, 310 N. State St. in Preston, Idaho with Bishop Jeff Palmer conducting. A viewing will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Webb Funeral Home, 1005 S. 800 East in Preston and from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the stake center. Interment will be in the Preston Cemetery.
