After a 15 month battle with pancreatic cancer, Barry passed away peacefully on March 26, 2013 in the loving care of his wife. He was born in Preston, Idaho January 7, 1942 to Ernie and Velma Banks. He lived in Ogden and Salt Lake City. He married Jill Pettigrew (divorced) and raised his family while working at Utah Power & Light and retired after 34 years as a substation foreman. In 1991 he married Janis Lord. He loved his retirement job at Home Depot in Sandy and all the great people there. Barry's favorite past time was walking through car shows with his son and grandson, sharing his vast knowledge of classic and modern cars. He particularly enjoyed the annual trip to Reno for Hot August Nights, spending time with family and looking at hundreds of cars.
Barry and his wife enjoyed their cabin, traveling in their RV and last year was able to fulfill his lifelong dream vacation to Europe. He loved his grandchildren, being one of Santa's helpers, camping and his dogs Joey & Phoebe.
Barry is survived by Janis, his loving wife of 22 years. Children Tyler & Amber Banks & Diane & Brad Sahleen. Grandchildren Taylor, Cory, Austin, Ashley, Jonathan, Wendi, BreAnne, Madison, Jordan, Grace and two great-grandsons, Holdyn & Kaysen.
The family would like to thank the tremendous support from family and friends and the Huntsman-Intermountain Cancer Center, for their expert care and concern - especially Dr. Gregory Litton and his wonderful staff.
