The funeral for James LaDell Tingey was held Tuesday, Feb. 19, 11 a.m. at the LDS chapel in Cottage Grove, Ore. He will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. Funeral arrangements are through Buell-Andreason in Springfield.
Tingey passed away Feb. 14, 2013 at his home in Cottage Grove from complications due to bone cancer. He was born in Weston, Idaho, on a dairy farm. He was the youngest of nine children. From 1949-1952 he was on a Northwestern States Mission for the LDS Church. He served in the United States Army from 1952-54.
He and his first wife Shirley Dingman Tingey lived in Eugene where he worked as a meat cutter. They had five children. He and his first wife served a senior mission.
After his first wife’s death in 2002 he married Joan Glenn of Cottage Grove. The couple lived in Cottage Grove. They traveled and enjoyed their golden years. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt and fish. He was a farmer at heart and loved all equally.
He is survived by his five children Cynthia Gilles of Beaverton, Julie Piesker of Tigard, Nancy Davison of Brucevill, Texas, Marcia Pollard of Springfield and Danny Tingey of Newberg, Ore., and three stepchildren Terra Hensley of Cottage Grove, Darren Glenn of Cottage Grove and David Glenn of Vida, Ore. They have a combined 25 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
