BRIGHAM CITY - Eldon M. Hansen, age 86, died Monday, December 24, 2012 in Brigham City . He was born June 12, 1926 in Preston, Idaho, a son of Peter Thompson Hansen and Nellie Monson Hansen. He married Lola Jean Murphy on June 19, 1953 in Logan, Utah. The marriage was solemnized in the Logan Temple June 19, 1961. He spent his early years in Preston, Idaho, graduating from Preston High School. He was a member of the L.D.S. Church where he had been an assistant scoutmaster, membership clerk, secretary in the High Priest Quorum, and home teacher.
In 1944, he enlisted in the Army serving in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Receiving an honorable discharge as a TEC 5 August 12, 1946, he served his country well. He received the Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Service Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. Working at Hill Field and Parsons Construction for a time, most of his life he worked for Fife Construction and Rock Products where he retired in 1989 after forty years with the company. His yard and garden were prized by him and he spent many hours tilling, weeding, watering, mowing, and trimming to keep his yard meticulous.
He is survived by his three children: Jeanne H. Sneddon (Dale) Carthage, MO, Richard E. Hansen, Brigham City, UT, Ronald L. Hansen (Jana) Idaho Falls, ID, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren. Sisters: LaRae Thomas, Salt Lake City, UT, LuDeen Maughan, Ogden, UT. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lola, his father, mother, brothers, Ray, Glenn, Dean, Clyde, Paul, and his sisters LaVern and Leona.
Funeral service to be held Friday, December 28, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. at Gillies Funeral Chapel, 634 East 200 South, Brigham City, Utah 84302
Visitation will be on Thursday evening 6-8 pm and on Friday from 12:00 to 12:40 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
Interment in the Brigham City Cemetery, where military honors will be accorded by the Box Elder County Honor Guard.
