Logan Herald Journal, 07/26/13

Verlene Palmer Adams passed away July 24, 2013, in Spanish Fork, Utah, at the home of her daughter Diane and was reunited with her loving husband Grant after many years. Verlene was born in Moreland, Idaho on May 14, 1932, on the ninth wedding anniversary of her parents. She is the daughter of Glen Charles and Cora Hokansen Palmer.

The family moved to Grace, Idaho, on April Fool’s Day, when she was 11 months old. Verlene attended school in Grace and was active in many functions and clubs.

She was the first woman to serve as Grace High School Junior Class President. Verlene met Grant Allen Adams following his mission and was married December 7, 1951, in the Logan temple. They spent their married life in Riverside and Techapahi, Calif., where they were active in the branch and other activities of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They were blessed with six children. In 1966 Grant died in an automobile accident in California and Verlene and the children moved to Logan. She worked for State Farm Insurance and Zions Bank for many years. Verlene had the privilege of serving a mission for the LDS Church in Tampa, Fla., and as an ordinance worker in the Logan temple.

She is survived by her six children: David (Cherie) Adams, Craig (Becky) Adams, Patricia (Matt) Limburg, Colleen (Matt) Nielson, Glen (Shereen) Adams, Diane (Bret) Martin, 27 grandchildren, 46 greatgrandchildren, and sister Betty (Keith) Nelsen.

She was preceded in death by her husband Grant, a sister Evelyn Home, a brother Eldon Palmer and a precious granddaughter, Kirstyn Curtis.

The family would like to thank the many angels who assisted our dear mother in her final years, especially Encompass Hospice of Logan and Orem, plus many other friends, neighbors and health professionals.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 29, at Allen Hall Mortuary, 34 E. Center St. in Logan, Utah. A viewing will be held on Sunday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment will be in the Logan City Cemetery following the services.
