Vivian died on May 15, 2013 after many years of physical and mental disability. Born September 9, 1923 to Leo Smart Mendenhall and Agnes H. Turner in Niter, Idaho, on a small farm with nine siblings. Her identical twin, Venice, preceded her in death in 1961.
She completed her schooling in Grace, Idaho before moving to Utah where she married Ernest Burns and gave birth to two daughters. After a divorce she married William A. Eads on March 21, 1952 in the Salt Lake Temple and had nine more children. They divorced in 1973.
She was a beautiful, goodly mother of few words; a hard-working farm girl with great determination and a testimony of her Savior, Jesus Christ. She loved to take long walks, and in her younger years enjoyed dancing. She mended clothing by hand, crocheted, and hummed a tune while working. She enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen and baked bread with a chewy crust full of soft, warm goodness and a delicious divinity that melted in your mouth.
Vivian is survived by a sister, Thelma (101); seven daughters: Vicki Burns, Venice Benavidez (Frank-deceased), Rosie Webster (Roger), Mary Ann Stephens (Greg), Roberta Hansen (Richard), Stacey Carpenter (Ken), Ellen Hadley (Rick); four sons: William (MichaelAnn-deceased), Raymond (Marie), Charles (Winnifred) and Thomas (Penni). She has 56 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at 4310 S. 3200 W., West Valley City. A viewing will be held on Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. (prior to services). Interment will be at the Redwood Memorial Estates Cemetery, 6500 S. Redwood Rd., West Jordan.
