Patricia Joan Christopherson Garrard Wilde, 84, of Montpelier, Idaho, passed away February 20, 2014. She was born July 5th, 1929, in Boise, Idaho, to Harvey Ross Christopherson, and Robinette Adelaide Parke. She was later adopted by Alton Harrison Garrard. During her early years she lived in Ashton, Idaho on a family farm, and had fond memories of her early days there. Later her family moved to Burley, Idaho and she attended public schools there and then went on to attend the Wasatch Girls Academy in Mt. Pleasant, Utah and the Albion Normal School.

While attending school at the old Idaho State College in Pocatello, Idaho, she met her best friend, Jens Patrick Wilde. They were married in 1948 at her parent’s home in Burley, Idaho. They were later sealed in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Latter-day Saint temple, in 1954.

Patty moved with her husband Pat, to Pocatello where Pat was enrolled at school. Together they helped manage a Veteran’s apartment complex to help make ends meet. Summer time often found them in the mountains working as fire spotters for the Forest Service. Patty as she was fondly called and known, loved to play both the organ and the piano, and was often found playing in church and for other venues. Many times she accompanied her daughters as they sang for funerals and other performances. She was still playing the piano up until the last few weeks. The heavenly music will be missed.

Pat and Patty spent many years in the education field. Pat was an avid historian both him and Patty spent endless hours gathering history and priceless photos about the local Bear Lake Valley and surrounding areas.

She loved her children and spent as much time with them as she could. Even the boys learned to cook and bottle all kinds of foods.

Patty loved to fish, garden, and sew, and soon became famous for her doll clothes that she designed, cut out, and then sewed them all together. She made clothes for many different dolls, and there are girls young and old, who still have them today but she was most well-known for Barbie Doll clothes.

Patty spent the majority of her life in Montpelier, only leaving for a short period while Pat was being treated with dialysis in Pocatello.

After Pat died in 2006 she moved back to her beloved Bear Lake Valley, where she remained until her passing. She is survived by one brother, Alton Parke Garrard (Ellen), Boise, Idaho; sonin-law Clark Herron, Kalispell, Montana; sons Alton Gale(Paula) Rexburg, Idaho; Lawrence Ray (Kathy) Sandy, Utah; George Andrew (Dana) Logan, Utah; Daughters, Robinette Marie Hirschi (Tim)Montpelier, Idaho; Linda Elise Yellen (Ken) Montpelier, Idaho; Melany Ann Wilcox (Kim) Dayton, Ohio; 30 grandchildren and 70 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and one daughter (Marcile Louise Herron).

Funeral service will be conducted on Friday February 28th at 1:00 pm in the Montpelier 3rd/5th ward Chapel. Viewing will be February 27, 2014 from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm and again Friday 1hr before services. Interment will be in the Montpelier, Idaho City Cemetery.
