Carl Glayde Erickson, Sr. passed away at the age of 79 on January 3, 2014 at home surrounded by his family. Glayde was born March 11, 1934 to Stanley Erickson and Patience Clark Erickson in Downey, Idaho. He attended grade school in St. Charles, Idaho and High School in Paris, Idaho. In 1950, he joined the Army and was stationed in Fort Lewis, Washington. He was honorably discharged after a year due to family hardship and came home to take care of the ranch.

He worked for Peterson Motors and Fife Construction in Ogden, Utah. He worked for LeGrande Johnson Construction and Leaf Mining. In 1966 he went to work for Monsanto in Soda Springs, ID and retired in 1993 after 28 ½ years. He enjoyed driving truck after retiring for Rusty Hayes and LeGrande Johnson. He was always a hard worker.

He married Aileen M. Kearl in 1952 and they had two children, Fenton Glayde and Ida Rose Michelle. They were later divorced. He married Marietta Reeves in 1958 and had two sons, Carl Glayde Jr. and Hans Eldon Michael. They were later divorced. He married Marlene Hansen July of 1962 and they had a daughter, Angela. They were later divorced.

On May 20th, 1968, Glayde married the love of his life, Margaret Thornock Walker and with her two sons Robert James and Arthur LeRoy, they were a family of eight. Glayde and Margaret had three more sons together, Stanley Troy, Scott Lamar and Josiah Isaac and later in life they adopted “Grandpa’s little man” Lyle. Together they enjoyed their family of 10 kids, 24 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. There is always a houseful.

Glayde and Margaret enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling together. They enjoyed summer and Christmas family gatherings. Glayde had a love for horses. He drove teams and had a team until his health no longer allowed him to actively participate. Glayde was a member of the Bear Lake Search and Rescue and the Monsanto Search and Rescue Team. He was a member of the LDS Church.

Glayde is survived by his wife of 46 years, Margaret Erickson of St. Charles, ID, nine sons and one daughter, Fenton Erickson of Ogden, Utah, Carl Glayde (Brenda) Erickson, Jr. of Soda Springs, ID, Michael Erickson of Colstrip, MT, Robert (Shawn) Walker and Scott Erickson of Williston, ND, Joe Erickson, LeRoy Hess and Lyle Hess of St. Charles, ID, Troy Erickson of Boise, ID and Angela (John R.) Thompson of Garland, UT. He is also survived by a sister Ida Carmina Dickamore of Ogden, UT.

Glayde was preceded in death by his parents Stanley and Patience Erickson, his in-laws, Lamar and Rose Thornock and a daughter Ida Rose Michelle.

The family will receive friends at the Schwab-Matthews Mortuary in Montpelier, Idaho on Tuesday, January 7th, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. and also on January 8th from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the LDS Church in St. Charles, Idaho. Services will follow at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at the St. Charles, Idaho Cemetary.
