Myrtle McGuire, 97, born in Bear Lake, Idaho to Jonathan James and Ada Lillian Pugmire, passed away peacefully May 2, 2013 in Boise with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
Besides being the matriarch of her family, Myrtle also had a loving church and neighborhood family. Myrtle was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. During her lifetime, she served in many callings in the church. Visiting teaching until the time her health made it difficult to go to visit others, she then continued her service by overseeing the other members in the ward. For years she was the compassionate service leader under several Relief Society presidents. This position provided her the opportunity to organize many meals for funerals, births, and illnesses for others in their time of need. She was always there with a hot meal and a compassionate hug for those that were suffering. Myrtle also served at the Boise Idaho Temple for many years until her health impeded her ability to continue in this service.
Myrtle had an infectious laugh, a wonderful sense of humor, and she was always up to date on current events and sports. Her family says that she is the best pie-maker and raspberry jam maker in the world. She loved her daughter with all of her heart, but she had a capacity to love who ever needed her. One of her favorite topics was her grandchildren and their many activities and traditions together. She reveled in modern technology and always looked for an opportunity to see her grandchildren through Skype. Myrtle was a wonderful listener and a great encourager. We have all been so blessed for knowing her, and we are so grateful to have been part of her life.
Myrtle is preceded in death by her two husbands, Earnest Carl Lee, who was killed while serving in World War II, and Johnathan Harold McGuire, who passed away in 1974. Myrtle was one of 11 children. She is preceded in death by her brothers, James, Reed, Jarvis, and Kay Pugmire; and her sisters, Leola Taylor, Marge Walk, and Verna Saner.
Myrtle is survived by siblings, Donna Vallier, Jack Pugmire, and Karma Dungan; daughter, Diane Delgadillo; granddaughter, Marci (Daniel) Burgett; grandsons, Fred and Matt Delgadillo; and great grandchildren, Jordan and Garrett Delgadillo, Anna Delgadillo, and Lindsay, Ally, and Hannah Burgett.
Friends may visit with the family from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10, 2013 at the Relyea Funeral Chapel. A graveside service will follow at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 10th at the Morris Hill Cemetery.
