Beatrice Sarah Butler Sleight passed away peacefully at the Skilled Nursing Facility of Bear Lake Memorial Hospital on January 30, 2013. Beatrice was born October 7, 1919 in St. Charles, Idaho to David Edwin Butler and Sarah Elizabeth (Pugmire) Butler.

She was raised in St. Charles and Montpelier. With the passing of her mother, Beatrice helped rear her two sisters and two brothers until she left home. She met, and was courted by Ralph Miles Sleight and they were married and sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on March 17, 1942. They have lived in Utah and Idaho, but most of their lives were spent in Paris.

As a youth she was active in the Mutual Improvement Association. In her married life she served many church positions in the Primary, Cub Scouts, Sunday School, and Relief Society. She and her husband, Ralph, served one LDS mission in West Virginia and also a service mission for over eight years microfilming vital and legal records for the Church from Virginia to Washington State. She enjoyed doing extraction of records for many years then continued with Indexing until she entered the skilled nursing facility. She raised one daughter and seven sons. She made it a point to attend as many of her children’s activities as she could.

Beatrice was preceded in death by her parents, her siblings, and her son, Keith Butler Sleight. She is survived by her husband Ralph Miles Sleight of Paris, Emily (Steven) Hirst of Fruit Heights, Utah, Thomas (Toni) Sleight of Nibley, Utah, Reed (Gayla) Sleight of Pocatello, Daryl (Shirley) Sleight of Paris, Glenn (Darlene) Sleight of Temple City, Calif., Lee (Marianne) Sleight of Weston, Idaho, and Wendell (Alice) Sleight of Mollalla, Oregon. She has 30 grandchildren, 75 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Funeral Services will be held in the Paris LDS chapel at 11 a.m., Monday, February 4, 2013. The viewing will be February 3 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Paris church house and from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the funeral. She will be interned in the Paris, Idaho cemetery.
