GLORIA THOMAS was the eldest of 7 children, mother of 8, with 27 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by parents Ulysses and Indiana (Ashley) Oatman; siblings Theodore and Thomas Oatman; daughter Latricia Byrd; daughter-in-law Joyce Thomas and grandson Jason Sims.
She is survived by 7 children; in Georgia - LouAna Brooks, Duane Thomas, Bonita Grizelle, Gizelle Thomas, LoriAnn Birts, in Ohio - Vicki (Odies) Grant and James Thomas.
She is also survived by 4 siblings and 1 sister-in-law; sisters Lorraine Patterson (FL) and Ann Ivory (OH); sister-in-law Etherae Oatman (OH); brothers Ulysses Oatman Jr. (OH) and Matthew (Callie) Oatman (GA).
Gloria lived a long and vibrant life in Cleveland, Ohio and Dry Branch, Georgia.
She was as devoted believer in Jesus Christ, beloved mother and grandmother, loyal friend, active volunteer in her community and overall a strong, dynamic woman.
Gloria died at 3:07PM and her time of departure is symbolic to her faith. 3 representing Trinity and 7 Completion.
May she rest in peace and may all who knew her be blessed to have called her - mommy, grandmommy, sister, auntie, cousin and friend.
Celebration services will be held at Old Marion Baptist Church 5593 Bullard Road Dry Branch, GA on Saturday, October 5, 2013, 2PM. (478) 945-2051.
