I have devoted seven years to trying to solve the brickwall where our Matthew Jordan goes. Our ancestor never left NC. He died in Johnston County NC. There are so many confused genealogies I realized the only way to properly solve our mystery was to DNA map all of Jordans who called NC home during or before the 1700s.
Now after seven years I know our Jordans are part of the JG3 Jordan TREE. However I am still searching for our close kin, Ymarker matches with only one or no different markers.
The work has brought to light there are many early Carolina JORDANS who moved to GA. I have tracked a Matthew GREENE Jordan born in 1806 in GA (possibly Monroe). This is a fascinating Jordan branch which includes a GA Supreme Court Chief Justice and a member of President Carter's cabinet. Their biographies do not delve into early history but thing mentioned about their surname being pronounced JERDON (rhymes with burden) strikes a chord.
For the longest time all of my kits submitted which had that particular pronunciation wound up being JG3 until I submitted a BERTIE county kit which returned as JG8.
I would like to know which JG Jordan Matthew Green Jordan's branch is? Hoping to connect with someone who is a historian or researcher for this branch.
