I have come across some information on Jane Wigley, that may be of interest to others. I am not related to or researching the Wigley family specifically.
Jane Wigley was born February 28, 1866 in Trenton, Dade County, Georgia. She was the youngest daughter of John Wigley.
Jane met Otto Axel Risum who was a soldier with the 15th Wisconsin Union Army. Otto took Jane back to his home in Wisconsin and the couple was married on May 20, 1865 at Janesville, Wisconsin.
Following their wedding, Otto and Jane took up their temporary home with his father in Spring Valley, Wisconsin.
At the end of two years, Otto and his wife and young son John Louis relocated to Humboldt County, Iowa, where he took up a homestead for two years. The couple apparently preferred living in Wisconsin and retured there.
Otto and his family lived in the areas of Spring Valley, Orfordville, and Pulcifer, Wisconsin where he engaged in a number of successful businesses including a merchantile, general store, hotel, and creamery.
Jane Wigley Risum died around July 12, 1884 at the Northern Hospital for Insane at Oshkosh, Wisconsin. She was at the hospital just a few weeks with a mysterious illness. Very sad story.
I came across this info on the rootsweb message board for Shawano, Wisconsin. More in-depth articles can be found there.
I thought this poor lady might be someone's lost branch.
