Zephyrhills, Fla. — James M. Kennedy, 83, of Zephyrhills, Fla., passed away there on Thursday, March 4, 2004.
He was born in Plattsburgh on June 30, 1920, son of Edgar and Helen (Waldron) Kennedy.
James was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He had been employed at Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora as an assistant food manager; he retired in 1982. James was a member of Keeseville Elks Lodge 7072 and Moose Lodge 766 in Orlando, Fla. He enjoyed bowling and playing pool.
James is survived by his wife, Bertha (Parsons) Kennedy of Zephyrhills, Fla.; a daughter, Karen Kolbinsky and her husband John of Plymouth, Mass.; a son, Michael Kennedy and his wife Molly of Manchester, N.H.; a brother, John Kennedy of New London, Conn.; stepchildren, Penny Trudeau of Covington, Ga., Rosemary Juneau of Rouses Point, Sue Ellen Coste of Plattsburgh, Ronald Parsons of Florida and Michael Parsons of Morrisonville; several grandchildren; several great - grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
James was predeceased by his first wife, Margaret Kennedy; two sisters, Trudy Mannix and Margaret Vollmer; and two brothers, Edgar Kennedy and Bernard Kennedy.
Calling hours will be Sunday, March 7, 2004, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Plattsburgh. Members of the Keeseville Elks Lodge will meet Sunday evening at 7:30 p.m. Members of the Moose Lodge will meet Sunday evening at 8 p.m. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 8, 2004, at 10 a.m. from St. Peter's Church in Plattsburgh. Burial will be later in the year in St. Peter's Cemetery in Plattsburgh.
