Saratoga Springs — Daniel F. Kennedy of Congress Avenue, died unexpectedly Thursday. May 30, 2002, at Saratoga Hospital. He was 85.
He was born on March 30, 1917, in Lake Placid, N.Y., the son of Vernon and Harriet (Washburn) Kennedy.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre.
He resided in Saratoga Springs since 1946.
He retired from the NYS Department of Transportation, Town of Moreau Garage, where he worked as a truck driver.
Dan was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Saratoga Springs, where he performed many acts of kindness.
His wife Mary (Morris) Kennedy died July 24, 1978. He was also predeceased by a sister, Margaret Warrington and a nephew, Craig Warrington.
Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Dorothy (Kennedy) Southmayd of Schuyler Falls, N.Y.; a nephew, Earl Southmayd and his wife, Carole of Schuyler Falls, N.Y.; nieces, Lana and Eugene Fournier of Plant City, Fla., and Joy Conway of Lake Placid, N.Y.; several great-nieces and nephews; and a dear friend, Alfred Conway.
Calling hours will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday, June 3, 2002, at Simone Funeral Home, Inc., 105 Lake Ave., Saratoga Springs (584-2240). Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2002, First Baptist Church of Saratoga Springs, 45 Washington Street, Saratoga Springs. The Rev. Jerrie Shepard Matney will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd, Town of Saratoga.
