San Diego, CA Evening Tribune, Sat. 16 Dec 1916, p. 11. Harvey L. Berry, 2021 Fort Stockton Dr. ended his life with revolver. Survived by widow & 6 children. It’s believed financial worries were the cause.
San Diego, CA Evening Tribune, Sun. 17 Dec 1916, p. 24 Coroner’s Jury ruled Berry’s death accidental; he was cleaning his gun. His body was found in bathroom by his son Kendall. Undertakers were Bradley & Woolman. Funeral at Mission Hills Methodist Episcopal Church; cremation at Greenwood. He was 54, born FL. Moved to San Diego about 2 years ago from Funiak Springs, FL [Defuniak Springs]. Survived by widow Laura E. Berry, 4 daughters Frances E., Ossie E, Ellen B, and Gertrude Berry; one son Garrett Kendall Berry. Berry had been preparing to go north [Canada?] to look after timber interests.
The articles are written as if his family was with him in San Diego; certainly his son Kendall was there. Perhaps Laura moved to Vancouver because of the timber interests.

and search for Harvey [sounds like] Berry living in San Diego, CA, you’ll see he was there in 1915 & 1916 with his wife Laura. Look at the other Berrys, and you’ll see several of his children listed. It’s likely the whole family was in San Diego.
