I am researching the family of Nathan HENDRIX (son of Peter Hendrix and Elizabeth Gibson) and his wife Harriett HEARTFIELD. Nathan HENDRIX was born in South Carolina October 27, 1800, and married Harriett HEARTFIELD, in Georgia, about 1824. They first lived in Monroe County, Alabama, but moved to Escambia County, as best I can figure, around 1850. The family had a farm near Oakfield (off Palafox Highway), and several family members were buried in a small cemetery on the property. The cemetery has long since disappeared. They had sixteen children, the fourteenth of which was my great-grandfather, Richard Eli HENDRIX. Richard HENDRIX married Josephine BUTLER (of Evergreen, Conecuh County, Alabama) in Escambia County, on December 5, 1872. Richard HENDRIX died in 1913, and according to the newspaper article reporting his death, he was said to have at one time been a member of the "Pensacola Police force".

There are likely many descendants in the area, but I know very few, and the information they have on the family is scant. The following is a list of the children of Nathan HENDRIX and Harriett HEARTFIELD: Elizabeth, Mary, Martha, Dolly, Jacob, Louisa, Nathan, John, Harriett, Peter (buried in Roberts Cemetery), Charles, William, Stephen (buried in Roberts Cemetery), Richard, George, and Thomas. Additionally, Escambia County Court records show Nathan HENDRIX was appointed guardian of the following children during the 1870s: Charles, Daniel, Julia, and Lyman MIMS, children of Lyman R. MIMS.

Any help with any of these family lines will be greatly appreciated.
