Clarissa Roseltha Vance, 100, of Wapello (IA), formerly of Akron, Colo., died Friday, Oct 5, 2001, at the Wapello Nursing and Rehab Center.
The daughter of Charlie P. and Elffie Belle Curtis Curtis, she was born May 8, 1901, at Cedar, Kan.
She married Leo Vincey Cross in January 1923. They farmed near Akron. He died Aug 22, 1955. She married Delmar D. Vance on Aug 4, 1963 and lived in Akron. He died May 22, 1980.
She was a homemaker and had been a member of the Presbyterian Church at Akron and was a former Rebekah. She moved to Wapello in 1989 to be near family.
Survivors include her son, Harold V. "Hal" and wife Clarice Cross of Wapello; four grandchildren, Jerry, Tom and Ken Cross, and Carol Wyss; seven great-grandchildren, Joe, Jason, Matt, Brian and Angie Cross, and Mandy and Megal Wyss; and one great-great-granddaughter, Kelli Cross.
A gravaeside service was held at 10 am Wednesday, Oct 10, at the Akron Cemetery at Akron, with the Rev. Susan Spencer officiating. There was no visitation. The Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home, Wapello, and the Yeamans & Gordon Memorial Chapel at Akron provided care and arrangements.
