Surnames: JOHNSON, JOHNSTON, SCOTT
Desperatly Seeking Information on:

John C. Johnston [Johnson] b. Oct 1831 Scotland, d. Apr 1904 on his way from either Rocky Ford or Weitzer to La Junta, Otero Co. to the court house to file his way to file his Will. He fell asleep and when the conductor called out his stop, he got up and walked off the train [in his sleep] while train was still moving and was killed. His son Art Johnson supposidly continued on to the court house and filed the Will.

John married ca. 5 Mar 1864 either in Janesville, WI, Rock Co. or Emmetsburg, IA, Palo Alto Co. to Grace Scott, b. 20 May 1835 Howick, Quebec, Canada, d. ca. 1912-1920 Weitzer, CO, Otero Co. She was in Rocky Ford in 1906 and 1912.

Their children:

1. Susie May Johnson, b. 17 Feb 1865 Janesville, WI, Rock Co.; m. Lozene Daniel Wright [brother to Joanna's husband]

2. Joanna Jeans, b. 24 Feb 1867 Ames, IA, Story Co.; m. Benjamin Franklin Wright [brother to Susie's husband]

3.John Scott Johnson, b. May 1870 IA, Story Co., d. Nevada City, CA; m. Arvella Unknown and had ca. 5 children: Gertrude Johnson, b. Jun 1899 MT, Ralph Johnson and others names unknown.

4. Fred S.L. Johnson, b. May 1872 IA, Story Co. d. Nevada City, CA; m. poss. Ida Louise Worcester b. 9 Sep 1912 Philippine Islands; d. 1974 Longmont CO; they had at least one dau. named Elizabeth Louise Johnston.

5. Arthur J. Johnson, b. Feb 1875 IA, Story Co. m. Emma Christenson, Art & Emma were living with or near his mother, Grace Scott Johnson in 1906 at Rocky Ford when he is mentioned in a postcard from Grace to her dau. Susie May.

I am interested in finding someone to check for the Will of John C. Johnston [Johnson], newpaper article [if any] of his death; obituary; where he is buried; and obituary of Grace Johnson and where she is buried.

Would be grateful if anyone had any leads to any descendants of Art & Emma Johnson, where they are buried, anything would be greatly appreciated.

Cindy
