I am looking for information about Nehemiah Ross (my gggrandfather), his wife Eliza (last name unknown) and their six children who were living in Randolph Co., Davidson Twp., from as early as 1830 until at least 1860. Nehemiah was born in KY in 1807; Eliza was born in IL around 1814. Nehemiah was a farmer and may have been related to Obediah Ross and Michael Ross, as they all appear next to each other on the Randolph Co. tax records in 1830 and 1831.
Their daughter Elizabeth Ellen, my ggrandmother, may have married an Andrew J. McDonald in Randolph Co. in 1871. She married my ggrandfather James G. Qualls in 1873 in Independence Co. Her siblings were James Skinner Ross; Catherine M. Ross; Martha Dupree Ross; and Nehemiah M. Ross. Another sibling may have been an Elizabeth C. Ross. My ggrandmother was known by the name Ellen.
The whereabouts of Nehemiah after 1860 is not known. James S. served in the Civil War and ended up in Stone Co., MO. His mother Eliza is shown on the 1870 Stone Co., MO, (Pierce Twp.) as living with her three daughters: Catherine, Martha, and Ellen. Nothing is know of Eliza's whereabouts after that time.
Ultimately, Ellen Ross and James G. Qualls brought their young family to Barry Co., MO. Their daughter Effie Loutisha Qualls was married to my grandfather Elles E. Hilton and lived in Barry County, MO all of their lives, raising six children of their own: Myriel (m. Suttles); Ella (m. Robbins); Lester P.; Ralph; Phyllis (m. Esmond); and Earl E. "Junior" Hilton .
