Winona Day, age 77 of Hot Springs, Arkansas, died Monday, June 26, 2000, at the home of her daughter, Dianna Gerling of rural Burlington. The daughter of Tram and Vila (Roper) Branscum, she was born March 10, 1923 at Evening Shade, Arkansas. On June 8, 1945 she married James Day at Dallas, Texas; he died November 6, 1984. She was a homemaker, enjoyed gardening, casino boats and loved to fish. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include three daughters, Karen White of Hot Spring, Arkansas, Dianna Gerling in Burlington, and Debbie Sipes of Houston, Texas; two sons, Michael Day of Reno, Nevada and Gary Day of Charlotte, North Caroline; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Garland Branscum and Guy Branscum, and one sister, Opal York, all of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one brother.
Local funeral services were held at 7 pm Wednesday evening, June 28, 2000 at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis where the family met with friends after the service until 8:30 pm. The Rev. Melvin Miller officiated.
Funeral services and interment will be held Friday, June 30, 2000 from the Woodlawn Funeral Home and Cemetery, Houston, Texas.
