"Utility Trailer" industry at Kendall 1940

Classification: Query
Seems everyone on this census page worked in the "utility trailer" industry. They had various occupations such as salesman, assembler, laborer [except one who worked at A&P (supermarket?)]. One occupation looked like farmer--but
it could be foreman, I guess. They lived at Kendall in Montgomery Co. AL in 1940. Is Kendall a town or what? Did these folks work at a factory that manufactured (and assembled) and sold utility trailers? Is that company
still in business? It is Sheet 13A (Enumeration District 51-80). This census gives the location of each family's residence in 1935 (as well as 1940).

Surnames on this page include:
Metcalf, Paul, Ferguson (from OH or OK), Whitmire, Mesey, Ragland, Manning, White, Joiner, more Fergusons, and more Metcalfs. The script image says the Fergusons were from Ohio, and the typed version says they were from Oklahoma. (How could that be corrected?)

Can someone tell me more about the "utility trailer" industry located at Kendall in 1940? What happened when the menfolk went off to fight the war? Was this a
cluster of employees who lived in housing provided by the company? There is a (national) company called Utility Trailer Manufacturing Company. Did they (or do they) have
a plant or factory at Kendall in Montgomery Co. AL in 1940? Can someone "connect the dots" for me?

Does anyone know (of) this JOINER family? What was Katherine's maiden name? Where was she born? Who were her parents?
