Parents: John Ross and Temperence Ferrell. 1st state treasurer of Alabama and moved from St. Stephens to Mobile AL in 1827. Died of yellow fever in 1837 and buried in Magnolia Cemetery. 1st wife Anne Amelia Fischer married 11 feb 1817. Second wife Mary Bolling Tabb married 8 Nov 1827 in Huntsville AL. The North Carolina Star (Raleigh NC) 29 Nov 1827 p3 column 5 – Married in Madison County AL on 8th ult. Cpt Jack F Ross of Mobile, and formerly of Franklin Co, in this state to Mrs. Mary Tabb. Thomas Bolling Tabb, Jack F Ross stepson married Laura E Taylor b 1811, daughter of Margaret Josephine Saunders and Robert Taylor and granddaughter of Joseph Saunders, brother of Jesse who married Anne Yancey. Mrs. Thomas Bolling Tabb was a second cousin of Mary Saunders who married Turner Ogletree.

The R A Taylor family moved to Shelby County Alabama in the 1820's

It is believed that Mary Holmes Taylor Jones - husband Willis Jones - was a sister to Robert A Taylor. The Jones moved to Shelby County AL in 1820's and then to Talladega Co AL. Their parents were Richard Taylor (land owner and veteran of the American Revolution and the War of 1812) - think their mother was Anna Holmes. Dr. Edward SAUNDERS (1625 ENG-1672 VA) married Mary Elizabeth WEBB Hudnall b circa 1625 (1st husband John Hudnall) she later married William Thomas. Moved from James River to Northumberland County VA. Mary’s parents may be William Webb and Mary Tabor or Taberer. Will of Thomas Taberer dated 24 Jan 1692 recorded 9 feb 1694 gave land to his daughter Mary Webb which he bought from Charles Edwards. Sister Ruth married John Newman, brother William, sister Christian, sister Elizabeth married Mr. Wombwell. Joseph Copeland. Witness Susanna Blunt. Webb’s in Surry county too.

Thomas SAUNDERS (SANDERS)(b 1595 in Eng) arrived on the ship “Safety” in 1635 at the age of 40 with his son Thomas age 13 and his other son Edward age 9.
