Welcome to genealogy, and researching the William Bailey/Racheal Littlejohn line. You have a lot of fun ahead of you. Abram, William's father, has been hard to pin down precisely but I have circumstantial evidence that strongly suggests he was the son of John Bailey (d. ca. 1794) who served as U. S. Ranger after the revolutionary war in present day Charleston, WVA, area on the Ohio Valley Frontier with Daniel Boone. John's main claim to fame is that he married the widow Anne Hennis Trotter who became known as "Mad Anne" Bailey, a famous frontier woman who saved what became Fort Charleston, WV, by riding 100 miles to obtain ammunition, re-enforcements, and supplies during an Indian siege. Racheal is just as interesting as she is descended from Sir Mungo Murray, 2nd Viscount of Stormont, which opens the door to a rich history going back to the 1100s and even to the 400s. That rich history includes the kings of Ireland, Scotland, and England, as well as France, and that general region.
