1. Does anyone have any updated information on the William Lance Wiggins (parents, siblings)?

2. Does anyone have current contact email for Victor J Taylor? His email address is no longer valid.

3. I believe I am a descendent of John Dillard Sloan and Nannie Wiggins. I believe their son John L Sloan (would be my paternal grandfather) was also known as Jack Clayton Sloan(e) and other configurations of Clayton Jackson Sloan(e). The man who was my grandfather was a bigamist and served 3 years in Florida State Prison at Raiford, Florida from 1940 (1940 Census listed as J Clayton Sloan, born 1899 South Carolina, 1935 at Atlanta, Georgia) to 1943. From the trial transcripts and newspaper articles, we know Jack was married to one Artelia Whitten ca. 1936 and had abandoned her at Sheffield, Alabama in 1937 , shortly before their child was born (identity of the child is still a mystery). Artelia testified that Jack was married to two other women, who she said one died and the other divorced him. I believe those two women to be one Ellen Dickey (her children were James Dillard Sloan, 1920-1988, Sr and his son was Jr, and Ellen's daughter Eloise Sloan, abt 1923 [no further details on any of these people either]) and the other Lucile Risner (children Evelyn "Peggy" V Sloan, 1926-1998, married Harold Gene Hunt, and stillborn Walter Houston Sloan). The timeline I have fits together nicely.
Once he left Artelia, went to Evergreen, Alabama, where he met my grandmother Sibyllia Sowell, they married 5 Feb 1939 at Pensacola, Florida (on the marriage application, Jack's age was 35, never married before and from Charleston, South Carolina). My grandmother was bedridden the last few months of her pregnancy with my father. They rented rooms in Pensacola of Aug 1939, the landlord testified that Jack wasn't seen there after Sep 1939. The grocer, Brad Horn, testified that Jack had been working for him since Oct 1939. My John Clayton Sloane was born 10 Nov 1939 at Pensacola. One month after my father was born, my grandmother was reading the newspaper and saw a marriage announcement of one Marcella Reedy, "Mr. and Mrs. R. N. Reedy announce the engagement and approaching marriage of their daughter, Mar- Elizabeth, to Mr. Clayton Jackson Sloane of Cincinnati, Ohio, New York City. The wedding will take place December 31 at the home of the bride at 5 o'clock in the afternoon." Printed in The Pensacola News-Journal."
13 Dec 1939, arrested by Sheriff of Escambia County, H. E. Gandy. 15 Dec 1939, preliminary trial, plead insanity and not guilty to bigamy and non-support. Judge Reese appointed doctors for assessment. 24 Jan 1940, doctors deemed him sane for trial and changed plea to guilty.
Jan 1963, Brevard County, Florida, there's a death record for a Clayton Jackson Sloan. I have ordered the death certificate but it been over six weeks and still no answer.
I have compared the signatures of John Sloan's WWI Registration Card at Sheffield, Alabama and the signature of Jack Clayton Sloan on the marriage application to my grandmother. They are very similar, my mother also remarked it resembled my father's as well and my own signature used to resemble it. I have been searching for my father's father for a number of years, and now believe I have found him :)
Any further information or contacts would be greatly appreciated. Yes, our Sloane with the 'e' we believe either my father added it out of ignorance or perhaps my grandmother did to distance them for anyone who may have searched them out...
The attached photo was in my grandmother's scrapbook and whilst in the USA visiting and researching this past January 2013, I was able to speak to the much younger brother of Marcella, he confirmed this man to be the Clayton Jackson Sloane his sister was engaged to.
