Hello! I am also a descendent of Anna Elizabeth Blankenship through her marriage to Alexander Major White (aka Armajor and R Major?). Their son William Henry White is my great-great grandfather.
I’m a novice at genealogy research and am definitely confused by the discrepancies between stories that have been passed down through my family and the actual (reliable) data I’m able to find regarding Anna Elizabeth, Morning C., and Millie Thompson. I have had my DNA tested so far by both AncestryDNA and 23andMe with absolutely zero trace of Native American DNA. However, understanding what little I do about genetics, this does not necessarily mean that the oral legend is untrue. Here is a link to an easy to understand article which also refers to another good article that gives the layman’s scoop on DNA testing and how DNA alone cannot prove nor disprove tribal lineage: https://www.google.com/amp/s/dna-explained.com/2018/05/16/ch...
It has been a while since this thread was originally posted. Has anyone been able to discern any clearer information?
Thanks in advance!
