Couple marks anniversary
Mr. and Mrs. James R. Hanson of 36
Grove St. celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary Sunday, Jan. 21, at a
surprise supper party for 66 relatives
and friends.
The party, arranged by the couple's
children, took place at the Knights of
Columbus council home.
Their children include James Hanson
of Rochester, Robert Hanson of Geneva,
Ralph Hanson of Rochester, Jerald
Hanson of New Jersey, Mrs. Edward
(Gerda) Dundas of Rochester, Mrs,
Charles (Patricia) Rogers of Florida
and Mrs. Dominic (Mary Lou) Cotroneo
of Geneva. They have 23 grandchildren
and four great-grandchildren.
Florence Leisenring and James R.
Hanson were married Jan. 19, 1923, at
St. Paul's rectory in Waterloo. Their
attendants were Mrs. Edna Leisenring
Lott and the late Bamie Leisenring.
Mr. Hanson is a retired employe of the
American Can Co.
Attending the party were friends and
relatives from Geneva, Waterloo,
Seneca Falls, Rochester, Buffalo,
Williamsville, Ithaca, New Jersey and


Mrs. Florence Hanson
GENEVA — Mrs. Florence Hanson,
75, of 36 Grove St., died earlier today at
the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dominic
Friends may call Sunday and
Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the
McGuigan Funeral Home.
Funeral arrangements have not yet
been announced. Burial will be in
Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo.
Mrs. Hanson was the widow of the
late James R. Hanson. She was born in
Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Leisenring. She had
made her home In Geneva for the past
55 years.
She is survived by four sons, James
W., of Rochester, Robert F., of
Geneva, R. Kenneth, of Rochester, and
Gerald A., of New Jersey; three
daughters. Mrs. Robert E. (Gerda)
Dundas of Rochester, Mrs. Patricia A.
Rogers of Gulfport, Mississippi, and
Mrs. Dominic (Mary Lou) Cotroneo of
Geneva; 21 grandchildren, and 17

GENEVA — James R. Hanson, 75, of
36 Grove St., died unexpectedly
Wednesday afternoon at his home.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today
and from 2-4 end 7-9 p.m. Friday at the
McGuigan Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m.
Saturday in the funeral home with the
Rev. Jane Brown officiating. Burial
win be In Maple Grove Cemetery,
Mr. Hanson was born in Sweden and
came to this country when he was 9
years old. He retired from the
American Can Company In 1968 after
45 years of service.
Surviving are his wife Florence;
four sons, James W. of Rochester,
Robert F. of Geneva, R. Kenneth of
Rochester and Gerald A. of New
Jersey; three daughters, Mrs. Robert
E. (Gerda) Dundas of Rochester, Mrs.
Patricia A. Rogers of Gulfport, Miss.,
and Mrs. Dominic (Mary Lou)
Cotroneo of Geneva, 21 grandchildren,
17 great grandchildren; two brothers,
Charles Anderson of Waterloo and George
Anderson of Rochester, four sistes,
Mrs Archie Pollard Of
Geneva, Mrs. Jennie Jones of
Waterloo, Mrs. Rocco Church of Ithaca and
Mrs. Charles Williams of Oaks Corners; and
several nieces and nephews.
