It is my line indeed....James Grimes was a surveyor and town constable who married Keziah Chadwick Nov 23, 1739 and moved to Watertown MA and had children. Do you have the names of the children?
Ck out the "History of Early Settlements of Newton, Co of Middlesex, MN.....it is a readable book online. Just type in Grimes and all the pages with a Grimes name is prompted and u just go to each link. I have many other sources of readable books of early MA history and Grimes genealogy if u are interested. James gdfather was a John Grimes b July 28th 1700 and married a Hannah. He had a 41 Ac farmstead. It was his son John who was James father.
This is the best I could put together the earlest Grimes. The Anson Gard book mentions he came from New Hampshire but not so he was from Goshen MA and left Woburn MA in 1801 winter time to settle in Hull/Aylmer region. Have u seen the family 80 site they farmed from the Google map aerial pic? If u reply to my Dgrimes@aol.com
email address I can discuss what I have that u might be interested in.....and I sure wud like to know of your connection since I have a good tree of the current family line....hope to hear from u soon...Dick
