Researching the Savage family of Godmanchester, Huntingdon County, Quebec. Thomas Savage and Margaret (Carmody) Savage emigrated with their family from County Kerry, Ireland to Huntingdon in 1840. Purchased 100 acres of land, 4th range, northeast half of lot number 29 in Godmanchester from John Tannahill (land previously deeded to Hugh Wylie). Had 7 children between 1822 and 1834 in Ireland. Children married in Huntingdon to the following families - Reardon, Foran, Casey, Kirby, O'Hare, O'Connor and Pierce. Other family connections with Coffeys, Murphys, and others. Many family members are buried at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Huntingdon.
One son of Thomas, John Savage, married 5 Oct 1852 to Margaret Casey at St. Anicet. The couple had 11 children between 1853 and 1875 - Julia, Johanna, Margaret, Mary, Ellen, Patrick, Mary Theresa, John, Michael, Catherine Elizabeth, and Anne. Children later married into McElroy, Gallagher, Walsh families. Many of these children emigrated from Godmanchester to the Boston, MA area.
Would be interested in corresponding with others who share common research goals.
Will swap research in Boston for research in Huntingdon. I am particularly interested in obtaining probate records from the Registry Office at Huntingdon.
