Surnames: PURCELL, MCDERMOTT
My Mother-In-Law believes her PURCELL family, from Ireland, settled in Joliette before going on to Massachusetts.

Patrick PURCELL b. 1820- Ireland and Ann MCDERMOTT b. 1825- Ireland were married possibly abt. 1855- I don't know where.

They had 3 children born in Canada [source: 1880 census of Northampton, Hampshire, MA] and 2 children born in MA.

Patrick b. 1856
George b. 1858
Peter b. 1860
all in Canada.

Mary b. 1866
Edward H. b. 1868
in Massachusetts.

I have found "2" Patrick PURCELLs indexed in 1861 censuses but can't seem to find a source where I can VIEW these pages and see who else may have been living with him.

Does anyone out there have access to the following sources? And, are the areas below anyhow associated with or near JOLIETTE?:

Of course Canada is a large place, so searching just plain old "Canada" is giving me a headache! LOL And searching in an area that is way offbase is a dead end. (i.e, MIL's memory could be inaccurate) I have already searched through many records at Halifax, NSW and Purcell's Cove area.

I understand JOLIETTE and MONTCALM are now in the region of Lanaudiere and there are 2 parishes there, St. Jacques de Montcalm and St. Paul. Anyone know if there are searchable databases for records in those parishes?

Sorry, I have a zillion questions!
Thank you ahead of time!
