James E was born somewhere in Quebec c 1842, and I am looking for his parents. In 1861, he was in Arthabaska. In 1863 he was baptized in the Methodist Church (maybe) in Danville, the same town in which he would marry Mary Eliza Thurber on 29 Dec 1864. They have three children, Hattie Evelyn (1865), Henry Harrison (1865)and Edward Gilbert (1867)when the 1870 US Census finds them in Vermont, US. Another child, Walter Burdell is born in 1876. Our family says another son, our grandfather, Leon William, was born to them in 1885, but I think he may be a grandson. I can find no vital records of his--but that's another story. James and Eliza end up buried in Rogers County, Oklahoma, and obituaries report that the parents and children are all related.
I have located what I believe is the infant baptismal record of a James S Robertson who also ends up buried in Oklahoma; however, US Census records show him with different children. His wife has a similar name as our great-grandmother, but, again, the children are different, and they spend time in Missouri. We know our Robertsons came through Kansas, somehow.
I know this is lots of information when his parents will be trace through Quebec. But thanks for any help with this frustrating brick wall!!
