I came across this thread on ancestry by accident. I am curious about it because I am trying to research a branch of my family named White. I also have Barr's in my family tree. My fathers ancestors in Canada all resided in McNab, Horton,Lanark Twps. So your thread definitely caught my attention. My gr.gr. grandmother was born Margaret Louisa White in 1856 in surrey England, later emigrated to Canada and married in 1877 William Quait in Renfrew,he was a widower 25 years older than her. her father was John J.White, mother I believe was Elizabeth Ann. Not sure if they are connected to you or not,,there are Whites in Pembroke area, early settlers there. The name Barr is quite common in the area's mentioned. My gr.gr grandmother was Margaret Barr Hart, her mother was a Barr, and my cousins also are descended from another line of Barr's on their mothers side, who settled in Lanark Co. I am curious if your White is related to mine.
