I am researching the Newberry and Reynolds families who settled in Cramahe and Percy Twps of Northumberland in the early 1800s. Bennett Newberry was born in about 1812 in Cramahe and was married to Mary Dingman also born in Canada about 1818. (In which Cramahe Dingman family did Mary belong?) Another Newberry, Samuel, was married in Cramahe in 1840 to Eliza Turney. I do not know if Bennett and Samuel were brothers. In 1865 these Newberry men were located in Cramahe on Consession 8, Lot 23, and Concession 4, Lot 15, respectively. ( A search of some of the land records has proven to be fruitless and will need to be undertaken again.) No other information is known at this time about Samuel Newberry or the Robert Newberry that was also in the area in 1848. The Newberrys likely came from England and a "long shot" would be that Bennett's mother or grandmother had the maiden name was Bennett.

Bennett and Mary Newberry raised a family of seven children born in Cramahe: Abigail born about 1843 married Bill Bawden, Emmeline born about 1845 married William Ira Daniels, Jane was born about 1847, Alexander, born about 1848 married a woman named Jane, John was born about 1855, Samuel Robert was born on August 19, 1856 and married Euretta Reynolds, and Darius Wilmot was born about 1859.

Euretta Wilhelmina Reynolds, born November 17, 1859 near Warkworth, Percy Twp, was the oldest daughter of Smith Reynolds and Sarah Elisia ?. (Nothing is known about Smith Reynolds' parents or his wife's last name or the names of her parents.) Euretta had three sisters and one brother: Racholl, born about 1863, John born about 1866, Minnie, born about 1868, married Elgin Bush, and Janie M.E., born about 1870, married John Bush. Elgin and John Bush were the sons of John and Abigail Bush also of Percy or Cramahe Twps. Either Elgin or John Bush was a school teacher. The Bush family are believed to be still living in the Northumberland/ Peterborough area.

Euretta and Samuel Newberry were married in 1879 and over the next ten years raised a large family near Apsley, Peterborough County. In 1889, they travelled west to the Assiniboia Territory and settled about four miles south of Moose Jaw in what came to be known as the Newberry district. Brothers John and Darius also came west to take up homesteads. Brother Alexander may have inherited the land in Cramahe, but he is believed to have moved to Thunder Bay area.

I am seeking the descendants of these families who remained in Ontario in order to share information. Can anyone help?
