Classification: Query
Surnames: Hughes, Fitzgerald
You mention Hughes who lived in Adelaide. I am looking for the Hughes who were settled by Roswell Mount on Concession 10, Lot 10 South of the Road in Adelaide on July 25, 1832. These are the names I know them by, however they may have had middle names that they used in place of.

Paul Hughes Born 1800 Wales Ensign in 79th & 93rd Highlanders and Captain in the 2nd Middlesex Light Infantry
Unit started by Colonel Thomas Radcliff in the Rebellion of 1837-1838
Maria Louisa Fitzgerald Born 1803 Ireland (Wife)
Children reported on his military records for 79th & 93rd are
1) William born April 10, 1822
2) Robert born 1823
3) Wellington born 1826
4) Charlesson born 1827 (Charles)
Children reported in Baptismal records for St. Mary's Parish, Limerick, Limerick, Ireland are
1)Robert 1823
2)John 1825
3) Wellington 1829
4) Anna Maria 1829
Children reported on a family tree told by Pauls and Marias other son my gggrandfather Fredrick to his grandson
1) William who fought in the American Civil War and was held as a Union prisoner supposedly in the Libby Prison(Confederate) in Virginia. I need to know which regiment and then I will order Records from Washington, D.C. He was supposedly still a resident of Canada.
2) Robert
3) John
4) Henry
Someone looked at the records for the 2nd Middlesex Light Infantry and says there are alot of Hughes listed. He also stated that Paul in 1839 has put in for repayment of fees incurred while staying in a Hotel in Toronto or London. I will be trying to Inter-Library that film from The Archives in Canada to our Public Library. Also the land was 200 Acres of which Paul had cleared 10 acres and built two houses only one of which they reside in. In 1837's land petition he asks for another 200 acres due to his very large family, which lead me to believe that he may have more children. He had commuted his british pension to the land grant in 1831. Let me know if any of this makes a connection.
