This was posted a long time ago so I hope you see this. My name is Robert Hilles and Royal Smith raised my father Austen Hilles who was born in 1920. I knew Royal very well as a boy and was at his farm many times. I have attached a picture here of Royal and Reuben Smith taken on the Smith Farm in 1920. My father was left by his mother in Kenora. Her name was Estella Hill and she was also from Buckingham and she was a second cousin of Royal as I believe Elizabeth was her mother. The Smith's were Empire Loyalists that moved to the Buckingham area from the US. I don't they had had any native blood at all. Royal had three son two of whom were sill alive when I was a boy and I called uncles: George and Lloyd. Their other son Clifford died in WWII. They had two daughters too: Dorothy (who lived in Windsor) and Marge (who lived in Smith Falls when I was a boy). I believe. I would like to know more about Elizabeth as I am likely distantly related to her. I have written a lot about Royal Smith in my books. Royal Smith's Wife's name was Alice and she is the woman holding the boy who is also named George. Rueben is the man on the far left (holding a girl and wearing a hat). Royal is the man in the hat on the far right. My father Austen (Micky) is standing next to Royal. If you see this please email me as I have more questions and can likely answer more for you as well. I am having trouble with the picture so will post it later.
