I’m trying to locate my grandmother’s family in the Norval, Glen Williams, and Georgetown area during 1880 - 1945.
I have been told that apparently my grandmother, Frances, was born out of wedlock; her biological mother was a native woman from a tribe located in Norval, I currently have no names of my great grandmother or the tribe. Apparently, my great grandmother had an affair with a married, non-native man who lived in Glen Williams, with the last name of Maire, or Mair, or Mires. I was told that my great grandmother had 2 choices; (1) leave the tribe with the baby, or (2) give the baby to the father and stay with the tribe. My great grandmother gave Frances to her biological father and returned to the tribe. Frances was raised by her biological father and his wife; Mr & Mrs Maire, or Mair, or Mires. A son was born later by the name of James. I believe France was born around the year of 1918.
Apparently my grandmother had family relations of some sort to the families of Montgomery, MacDonald, Smith, Marchment of Norval, Glen Williams, Georgetown, and Milton area.
My grandmother married Clarence Taylor; they had 17 children, only 7 survived as the other had died of illness. The family mainly grew up in Toronto, ON Canada. My Grandfather has Irish and/or Scottish descendants; his nickname was “Red”. I’m unsure if he was born in Canada or elsewhere. I believe Clarence was born around the year of 1913.
I would be grateful of any help or leads.
