Duncan: Delighted to hear from you. The Localsh store was owned and operated by the McLennan's. The property on the Bruce Co. side of the road that has all the wind mills is about where my gr.grandfather lived. I was in Localsh in May and visited that cemetery, where a good many of my relatives are buried. It was beautiful country and I'd love to visit again.
Interestingly enough, my 2nd great grandmother was a Matheson, who married Donald McLennan, who emigrated to Localsh, Ontario. Their son married a Donald Stewart's daughter, who emigrated in 1855 from Avernish, Scotland to Lochalsh, Canada. His wife was Mary Finlayson. We feel they all knew each other in Scotland. Did your relatives emigrate from the Localsh area in Scotland? We have been totally stopped at who Mary Finlayson's parents were in Localsh, Scotland and also who my 2nd gr.grandmother, Marion/Sarah Matheson, parents were.
