Halifax as port of departure for Boston in 1820 / need arrivals

Hello, I have John Cassady/Cassaday/Cassidy who came from Northern Ireland (Antrim) before then leaving from Halifax NS to Boston in 1820 on the Schooner Victory. Am looking for his home town in Antrim and if he was travelling with a wife (poss Ann or Nancy). I have a record of that passage to Boston so I know he left from Halifax. Unfortunately on the home country/country of return, it says Halifax!! Other passengers were classed this way as well. If they were in Halifax for over a certain period of time, were they then classified as NS residents? His petition for US naturalisation said he was born in Antrim, NI, but no town and no parents' names on his death cert.

Any help is much appreciated.
