This SHOULD be a totally different thread, on a totally different board, but here's the info...

RE: Ferdinand Houtenbrink (next time, be a bit more careful with where you post. Most folks would simply ignore this. I'm just challenge-challenged, so went with it, anyway.. Amelia Frank (or Green by some accounts) married Ferdinand before 1880 in Europe. She, he, and a child or two, came to the US in 1882. Would look like NY first, then Michigan (where it would appear, Amelia died), then Ferdinand married Rosa in 1894, then later married in Boston to Eva Baker Miller. Anyway, see below for my notes. Likely you already have all this, but since you posted here, you end up with all my gibberish to play with. :-)

Found Ferdinand Houtenbrink, b. Jan-1850, Holland, married to an Eva in 1910, in Boston, MA. Ferdinand, Jr. is the one b. 06 or 18-Mar-1880, England and d. Jan-1965, New Jersey. Sr. was likely one found in Netherlands records as b. 27-Jan-1850, Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands, to Antonius Houtenbrink and Johanna Catharina Gerardina Kuster (seen below as "Marie"?) This is SURELY the one who married Eva Baker Miller in 1906!

He was widowed in 1900 US Census for Boston, MA, living with a son, Ferdinand, b. Mar-1880, England, whose parents were born Holland (father) and Germany (mother).

He married Eva sometime between 1900 and 1910. She was born @1860 in Germany.

Another?? Ferdinand, b. 1850, Holland, m. Rosa Schucht on 29-Dec-1894, Detroit, Wayne Co, MI, his parents were Anton Houtenbrink and Marie Kuster. Rosa was the daughter of Mr. Schucht and Magdalena.

The reason I say 'another' is that the one who married Eva Baker Miller on 28-Jul-1906 in Boston, listed HIS parents as Anton Houtenbrink and Anna Gustave/Gustar (Kuster!)

From what I can tell, it was the same Ferdinand who married in Michigan in 1894!

The Ferdinand shown in Boston is same who was married to "Emily" and had son, Anthony, b. 1887 in Troy, NY, who married Emma E. E. Tomfohrde on 20-Aug-1910 in Boston, MA. That's surely confusing, given this Anthony was not with his father in 1900 census.

Emily listed as "Millie' in the 25-Nov-1892 birth of Edward Houtenbrink, who was born in Detroit on 25-Nov-1892, before Emily died and his father married Rosa in 1894.

Also found a Johanna Maria Cornelia Houtenbrink b. 11-Oct-1873, Rotterdam. Daughter of Ferdinand Houtenbrink and Margrita Adriana Sappelli.

Ferdinand Jr. (b. 1880, England, married Mary Lefort or similar.

A Daughter of Ferdinand and Amelia, Anna Houtenbrink, b. 1882, m. William Berkley Brown on 20-Nov-1905 in Providence, RI.

According to Ferdinand Jr's marriage record, he married Mary Lefort in Boston on 15-Feb-1905, listed his mother as Amelia Green. Which is interesting, because Anna b. 1882, Manhattan, NY, has a birth record showing her mother as Emilie Frank.

Ferdinand Jr. birth registration in Apr-1880 at Mile End Old Town, London, England.

Ferdinand Sr. was in Troy, NY in 1880s through early 1890s, then in Detroit through 1896, then to Boston by 1900. Ferdinand Sr. died in Boston on 11-Sep-1923.
His son, Anthony, was an optican in the 1920s in Boston, as was, I presume, another son, John.

Anthony b. 12-Oct-1886, Troy, NY (some show Michigan), who married Emma Tomfhorde, and was in Boston later. Their daughter, Eleanor Fern Houtenbrink married Harry Berger on 05-Jul-1947 in Salem, Rockingham Co, NH.

The only Canadian connection I found was a Hilda Houtenbrink, b. @1910, Canada. SHE was married to a FRED Houtenbrink, b. @1880, MA (is this Ferdinand Jr.?)
1940 US Census shows them in Seneca, NY, but that she was in Old Bridge? Middlesex County, New Jersey in 1935, which WOULD fit with Ferdinand Jr's movements.

The children listed in 1940 were Frederick b. NJ around 1934 and Barbara b. NJ @1937.

If the same, no idea why listed MA as POB, but FERDINAND's WWII Draft shows him living in Woodbridge, Middlesex Co, NJ, which shows DOB as 6-Mar-1880, London, England.
His contact info is a Mrs. William Wedemyer also in Woodbridge, NJ. No wife indicated. His WWI Draft reg in Boston, his wife appears to be Mary Christina (nee Lefort) Houtenbrink.

The one in Seneca married to Hilda shows POB as England in the 1930 census, and children Fred b. @1910, MA, and Pauline, who is married to William Wedemyer, as b. @1906, MA. Which matches back to Pauline being a daughter of Ferdinand (Fred) and Mary Christina, who was b. in Boston, 18-Aug-1905.

Now, back the regularly scheduled program... *sigh*
