Hi there,

Sorry for the delay in replying, but it has been quite a while since I last logged in. Thank you so much for the information. My mother visited the memorial in Buittle last year and took some photos of the inscription. She has done quite a bit of work on our family tree over the last two years or so and she has reconnected with some Brydsons in Scotland, which has been fantastic! Are you in Scotland?

Two weekends ago, I went to Victoria to try to locate John Brydson's grave and with the help of the Old Cemeteries Society there, I found it. He is buried in the Ross Bay cemetery in an unmarked grave right near the ocean in a beautiful spot. The woman who was helping me locate him, placed a small white cross on his plot, so that I could find it easily. I would never have known where to look otherwise. My family and I are already in the process of claiming the gravesite as our families responsibility and then we should be able to have a marker placed there. My grandmother, John's neice, is still alive and is happy to know that he has been found, after all this time.

His brother, Alexander is buried at the Mountainview Cemetery in Vancouver. He died in 1922 of TB after serving in WW1 in the submarines. His daughter is my maternal grandmother.

The internet is an amazing thing, isn't it?

Jackie

PS: I have attached a couple of photos of the gravesite a photo of the beach just across from John's grave and a photo of John and Alexander (John is seated).
