Land reforms as they were called by the monarchy authorities included the stripping of the land from its original owners ( Serbs and other domicile Eastern Orthodox/Slavic population who were awarded land as bordersmen in the Military Frontier province in earlier centuries) as well as their subsequent resettling within the region to less fertile parts.

The parts that were earlier deemed uninhabitable due to Ottoman presence and incursions were also settled during the land reforms.

Land was awarded to the new settlers ( your ancestors among them), and that is well documented too. The other set of colonization documents includes charters and lists of individual plots that were awarded to these new colonists. Also of interest to you would be a thorough research of the land owners registers and military service records for that period which are located in the Kikinda town regional state archive I mentioned earlier.

A more detailed lookup would warrant both a thorough examination of available archival holdings and contacting the museum and archive in person.

For more historical information on the region I suggest the official history guide to Vojvodina region as an objective and balanced resource. I know it is available in all official languages of the province ( Serbian, Hungarian, German, Romanian and several more) but you will have to contact the publisher to see if it is available in English version too.
