The Brodsky family.

I have only recently started to look into my family history and have only been able to get back as far as my paternal great-grandfather.
He came to London England between 1901 and 1907.I came to these dates as the 1901 UK census has just been published on the internet site:www.census.pro.gov.uk
and my great-grandfathers name does not appear.
His name was Soloman Brodsky and he came from Kiev.
I would guess he was in his late teens or early twenty's when he arrived in England. He met his future wife on the boat over and they had their first child in 1907,my grandfather Isaac. Two years later they had another son who they named David.I remember David telling me the family were sugar merchants but I was probably only 10 or so at the time.
I may be clutching at straws but having read some of the posts the coincidence of names and places is quite strong.
Did my great-grandfather name his two sons Isaac and David after family members he either lost contact with after leaving Kiev or lost contact with because he could not afford the cost of continuing his journey to america? And why do I remember a sugar connection from an old story?
You may also notice that my family name is now Brody. My grandfather changed the family name in 1949.My father and I have no idea if he was aware of the town/village called Brody near the russian/polish border.
If anyone thinks they have a possible connection with Soloman Brodsky who lived in Mile End London from 1901 to his death in 1943 I would appreciate hearing from you.
