I just read the message board about genealogy research done in Slovenia. I live in California and am looking for family history on my father's side. His mother was Julijana (Julia) Jeselnik b. 21 apr 1876 at Altwinkle, Austria/Slovenia/Jugoslavia. She moved to US in 1895 I believe. I think her parents also came at that time or near that time. Her father's name is Jurij (George?) Jeselnik , b. 30 Mar 1846 t altwinkle (now Stari Kot). He married 11 Sep 1871 to Ana Vesel b. 13 May 1849 in House 22 Stari Kot. She died 22 Sep 1926 after moving back to her home. I believe her husband had died in US and all their children remained in US but she returned to Slovenia. I do not have the date of Jurij's death but I think it was in Kansas where many of their children settled. Not sure.
Ana Vesel's father was Pavel Vesel b. 23 Jan 1803 and married Apolona Mavrin b 26 Feb 1810
Jurij's father was Anton Jesellnik b. 1 Jan 1822 and d. 9 May 1884. he married Marija Janez b. 8 April 1823 and d. 29 Dec 1897. I would really like to find where my great grandmother, Ana Vesel Jeselnik was buried. I am sure it was near her family home at Stari Kot but when my father visited Stari Kot in 1987 he was unable to find this information.I also want to fiind where Jurij Jeselnik died and is buried (probably in US). Thank you for any informationo you can give me . Or if you can direct me to genealogy sites for Slovenia. A priest told me that the Jeselnik family had migrated to Slovenia from Czechoslovakia about 250-70 years ago. I would love to know when and why they left, why they moved. I am wanting to write a book for my children and grandchildren and this would be interesting.
