I am hoping to connect with my maternal great-grandmother's family, the Sauber (Sober?, Zauber?) family from the Minsk or Gomel regions of Belarus.
Immigration information -- two sisters and a brother arrived in New York on 3/26/1906 via the Furnessia. Parents Sarah and Wolfe (William?) Sober may have stayed behind in Belarus.
Beile (Bessie) Sauber (b. 1885)
Srul (Saul?) Sauber (b.1886)
Mina (Minnie) Sauber (b.1887)
Bessie and Minnie (and possibly Srul) settled in Chicago. Bessie married my great-grandfather Morris Comm on 1/5/1908. She gave birth to my grandfather Julius Comm in Chicago on 11/25/1908. Bessie gave birth to a second child named Bennie Comm on 3/4/1910 but she died on 3/12/1910 due to complications from the birth of her second child. Bennie Comm only lived until 7/23/1910. Bessie is buried at Waldheim Cemetery in Forest Park, IL. The baby is buried somewhere there as well. I live in the area and was able to locate her grave but not the baby's.
Per the 1910 Census, Minnie Sober (as spelled on the document) was a roomer living with Morris Comm and his extended family (his parents, brothers and sisters) on Elburn ave. That is the last known record that I can find on Minnie. Hoping someone out there is related to her.
