Classification: Query
Surnames: Villeda, Orellana, Hernandez, Alfaro, Machorro, Valdez/Valdes, Franco and Prado
I'm looking for a few different things.
I have an older sister that we beleive was stolen from my mom when she was born in 1963 in a hospital in Chiquimula.
The baby looked alive, was fair skinned with light colored eyes.
The doctor told my mom the baby was born dead and immediately a nurse took her away without letting my mom see her. Within 24 hours the baby disappeared. My grandmother wanted her body to give her a proper burial but the doctor said they had already buried her.
That could not be because she was born and disappeared in the same day. Sounds very fishy.
The next thing I'm seeking is info on my surnames.

From my mother's maternal side they are:
Villeda, Valdez, Machorro, and Guerra.
Machorro and Guerra were born between 1840-1850.

From her paternal side they are:
Franco, Orellana, Alfaro and Prado.
Alfaro and Prado were born between 1865-1880.
My grandfather Antonio Franco may have Italian I've been told...I remember that he certainly looked like he might have Italian or Spaniard blood.

They were all from San Jose Larada, Chiquimula and Zacapa.

From my father's maternal side they are:
Orellana, Pineda
They were born in the early 1900's.

All I know from my paternal grandfather is that his name was Rodrigo Hernandez. He was adopted by his step-father "Hernandez" but his real father's name was Senon Calderon...I don't know if he was also from Zacapa.

For sure both sides of Orellanas in my family came from Zacapa.

I was told that there's a big chance that the Villeda's and Orellanas descended from Sephardic Jews from Spain after the inquisition.

Does anyone have any information on that?
I saw the list of names from the library of Spain of the Sephardic Jews that fled Spain to the Americas and Villeda and Orellana were in that list.

How can I look up the history of Sephardic Jews in Guate?

I was born and raised in the U.S. so all I've been able to do is visit a lot of websites but none of them have been too helpful when it comes to Sephardim in Guate.

If anyone has any info or thinks that we might share ancestors please contact me.

Remember, the surnames are all connected thru Chiquimula, San Jose or Zacapa:

Most of these family members of mine were fair skinned, blonde or light brown hair, light brown eyes.
My dad definately has Indegenous blood in him though I take more after my mom.
