I'm having a VERY tough time finding my husband's ancestor, John Lietz, in the Germans to America series. I have found some possible individuals, but they just don't seem to fit the bill. I do know that he arrived in the US sometime between 1863 and 1866, and purchased his property in Rosendale, Fond du Lac county, Wisconsin in 1866. While various census rolls indicate that he and his wife were naturalized citizens, the county (Fond du Lac) does not have his naturalization/immigration papers. I currently have a request to Milwaukee to see if they would have his papers. My question: for emigrants of Posen who were farmers, which port would they have gone out of? Were there ports other than Hamburg and Bremen? Would appreciate any advice.
