I originally posted this in another thread and was directed here. Thank you in advance for any assistance you can provide!

I'm trying to find the lineage back to Germany for my family. I can reasonably trace back to 2 Sielbecks who both list their place of birth as Hannover, Germany. The first individual I get stuck at is Christian Sielbeck, born ~1820, Married to Anna Frederica Lisette Grothman on 10 Mar 1854 in DuPage, Illinois.

The second dead-end I run into is a separate group of Sielbecks who arrived in Massac County at around the same time (early / mid 1800s). The furthest I can go back on that side is here:

Heinrich Sielbeck, married to Maria "Mary" Werfelman. I cannot find marriage details for them - just references in church records of their own children getting married. I do have 2 land purchases from 1850 and 1852 for a Heinrich Sielbeck - Based on age of other relatives, I feel pretty certain it is the same Heinrich I'm referencing here. I have seen some references that Mary and Heinrich traveled together to the US. Both sides seem to show up around 1850.

Any ideas / tips / suggestions are welcome. I started looking into this about a year ago, found a dead-end, and gave up for a bit. I'm back to try and get us back to Germany. I know there is a Sielbeck, Germany. I would assume my family ends up there in some way? Or did the town come later?

Thanks so much for any help or suggestions you can provide.
