Surnames: Pittlekow Pittelkau Pittelkow Zarnke Backhus Elkert Ilke Ilker
"My gr-great-grandmother was Justine Radtke. She married Peter Pittelkau. Their daughter, Betha Pittelkau (1878-1922) settled in Milwaukee and married William Elkert (family name in Mecklenburg-Schwerin was Ihke, then Ilker). Also looking for Zarnkes."

A Bertha Pittelkau Elkert's death notices are found in the local German papers in 1922. They include reference to the surname Backhus? These are some of the 25 entries collected in "Milwaukee's German Newspapers; an index of death notices and related items" (1844-1950).
Did Bertha's parents came to Milwaukee? there are possible matches indexed as Peter Pittelkau; and about 80 entries or references to Pittelkow & Pittlekow.

There are no entries or references to Zarnke in the growing data file, but about 15 Ilker entries.
